Youth Club & events

We warmly welcome you to our youth club. We are open to deaf or hearing-impaired children of school age and their siblings.

We have tea and coffee making facilities along with a tuck shop.

We try to have a range of activities which cater for a variety of ages, but activities are mainly aimed at school age children.

All children must be supervised at all times by their parent/guardians. Children are not the responsibility of the youth club leaders. We kindly ask parents/guardians to remember that the leaders are parents of deaf children who attend the club, and they are volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering at our youth club or events, please get in touch.

Some events advertised require tickets. To order yours for the different events visit the shop page.

In the gallery you will find some pictures from the events we put on alongside the regular youth club.

We invited along the travelling zoo to youth club. This was a really exciting opportunity for families to interact with lots of different animals.

At Christmas we held a party with food for the families. A children's entertainer DJ George came along and entertained us all with games and prizes.

We also visited the Sheffield Steelers who invited us along to cheer them on against one of their biggest rivals. The children and adults definitely had their shouting voices!

We hold parties for the children throughout the year. They were all dressed brilliantly for the Halloween party and we were all entertained by Sparky Marky and his magic tricks.

More recently we have attended Awesome Walls to do some climbing and we went to Tramp2Lean.

We have had visits over the last year from the police who have ran a road safety session and awareness around stranger danger and how to stay safe online.

We had a summer party which was well attended. There were representatives from hearing services and audiology who provided families with lots of information. To entertain the children we had bouncy castles and glitter tattoos. DJ George came again to entertain us all with games and music. Lots of adults were also getting involved.

If you can think of an activity or place you would like to visit as a group with SDCS please message us and we will look into if it is possible.

What have we been up to??

The children managed to create some brilliant tie dye t-shirts. The adults enjoyed taking part too. This is definitely something we will look to do again where parents and carers could bring something to tie dye too.
We had our Halloween party which was a busy night at club. We played games and enjoyed some food. There were some brilliant fancy dress outfits. Thank you to everyone who came along and joined in.
Over the summer we arranged a coach trip to Skegness. We were lucky with the weather and we all had a fabulous day. This is something we will look to do on an annual basis if it is financially possible. If you have an idea of a place to visit as a group get in touch we are always open to suggestions.

We had a visit at youth club from DI Jude Ashmore who is responsible for PLOD Police Link Officers for the Deaf. They have kindly donated some money to us and plan to do some fundraising in the future. An officer also attended youth club and did a road safety awareness session with the children. The children also had a great time and found this very useful they also enjoyed having a look inside his police car.

Some of our children completed their 10 week course of swimming lessons. They were all brilliant and we saw them progress so much. They should all be very proud of themselves. On the last session they were presented with a certificate from SDCS to acknowledge their achievements.

We held our summer party in July. We think the bouncy castle and buffet were enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone that attended. If you would like to suggest some activities for youth club or an event you think the children would like to take part in please contact us. We are always open to suggestions.

We recently had a great time visiting Awesome Walls. The children showed a lot of courage climbing up some extremely high walls. Well done to all.
